If you are on a low income, you can apply for social housing. We manage a number of social housing properties in the Greater Darwin Region.
These properties are allocated through the Northern Territory Government’s (NTG) Social Housing Priority Waitlist, and are intended to provide safe, stable, and affordable homes for people most in need.

Am I eligible?
To be eligible for Yilli-managed social housing, applicants must first be approved by NTG and placed on the NT Government’s Social Housing Priority Waitlist.

For more information on the eligibility for social housing, please contact your local NTG Housing office or visit NTG website.
How can I apply?
Yilli does not accept direct applications for social housing.
All applications must be lodged with the NT Government. More information on how to apply, including the application form can be found on the NTG website.
How is housing allocated?
When a Yilli-managed social housing property becomes available, we work with NTG to allocate the property to an applicant on the NTG priority waitlist. Allocation decisions are made with consideration of:
-
time spent on the priority waiting list
-
property suitability
-
the applicant’s circumstances, as assessed by NTG
-
Yilli’s commitment to supporting those experiencing homelessness or extreme housing insecurity

Rent and Rebates
Rent for social housing is calculated using NT Government guidelines:
-
The maximum rent charged is the NTG’s Gazetted Rent for the property.
-
Tenants who qualify for a rental rebate will pay 25% of their household income plus any Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA), capped at the Gazetted Rent.
-
Rental rebates are reviewed twice a year, or when household circumstances change.

Supporting Our Tenants
Yilli is committed to creating safe, supportive housing environments that empower tenants and their families. All properties are managed by a dedicated team who ensure that rent is calculated fairly, housing is culturally appropriate, and tenants are supported to sustain their tenancies.
